Addis Ababa (October 3,2022): Ethiopia’s State-of the-art Science Museum built in-front of the national palace/ behind Sheraton Addis Hotel has been inaugurated today.
The museum’s construction was initiated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed with an intention of serving as center of research and a place to preserve past and present technologies in different fields and pass down to the next generation.
The giant museum which is believed to be the biggest one in Africa is built on seven hectares of plot of which 80 percent is green space, has two massive buildings with a panorama view of Addis Ababa from its top.
The museum equipped with modern green energy source and is aimed to preserve and showcases Ethiopians ancient wisdom such as traditional medicine, cultural and traditional knowledge and the like.
The Prime Minister also gave effective leadership in the construction of Africa’s largerst “Abrhot Library” inaugurated a few months ago with a total cost of 1.1 billion Birr.
The museum is located in a walking distance the building of Abrhot Library built on 19,000 square meters of land near the national palace. The museum is expected to be inaugurated to night in the presence of invited guests including the diplomatic community in Addis Ababa, according to sources.
